A refreshing memoir on Cuban revolutionary, Ernesto “Che” Guevara and his dear friend Alberto Granada. The film follows their great Latin American adventure up along the Western coast, where they meet qualities on both ends of the scale—from hopeful and compassionate to greedy and self-centered. Unlike generic adventure films, Diarios de Motocicletas centres the unpretentious personality of protagonist Ernesto Guevara, leaving the audience with an authentic, new-ish perspective on worldwide inequity. The quality of the film may not attract an onlooker at first glance, but give it some time and you won’t even realise yourself gawking at the breathtaking scenery of the unbeaten path.
